The hammer falls again with “Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken”. It’s good to see they haven’t changed much in terms of outward appearance. Still a bit high and mighty. Still doing their true metal thing, they certainly are unbending. The good news is that this albums is more even in composition and on average better than “Crimson Thunder” which I personally consider a low water mark for the band.
This new album however smells more of classic 80s heavy metal. For example, I was reminded of Helloween, especially so during “Secrets”. Overall, the album feels less like a detour or an experiment and more like showcasing the talent that Hammerfall really possess.
