Republic Commando

Looks like a slight disappointment from where I’m standing. From what I hear, the interface is quite bad, reminiscent of console games.
I’ll try it out this evening and see what I think about it. So many distractions, so little time. Edit: Well, the interface does leave a few things to be desired. Gameplay and music are very engulfing though. Game felt a little on the short side. Finished it in like 2-3 sessions. And no skirmish or botmatch. Multiplayer was not tested but it looks promising.

So, what else can we expect to be slated for a March release? Well presumably Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 (yes, yet another WWII shooter, argh), Freedom Force vs. the 3rd Reich (the first game really sucked), DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil (as if that will be any better), Project: Snowblind, The Matrix Online (as if anyone will be willing to cough up the cash to play) and more.
I’m not too optimistic.

On the horizon are Dungeon Lords, Empire Earth II, Dungeon Siege II, Battlefield II, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, Earth 2160, Starship Troopers and Star Wars: Empire at War .

Kind of wondering what happened to Halo 2 for PC also. Isn’t it about time to start porting the damn game soon? The other console thorn in my side, Grand Theft Auto (San Andreas) is slated for this summer. But thanks to the wait and the sloppy work that we have come to expect from a Rockstar platform conversion I can’t say I’m looking forward to it. Quite frankly I’d wish they’d just drop this entire console thing altogether. But the way things are going with DRM and other proprietary trickery, console gaming is looking brighter all the time. Neither Microsoft, Nintendo nor Sony seems likely to give it up.

Maybe happening during 2005, Sid Meier’s Civilization 4 and Carmageddon (2005). I wish they’d get the latter right this time around and back to its roots when racing and maiming was fun and not some big circus.
