I’m getting more than a little tired of Wired and their overzealous cheering for the movie and music industry. Lets take a look at how they report the latest move in the struggle between the industry and US universities:
First they start out by listing a number of pointless media titles as a way to reinforce that it’s fun, fun, fun … and …
The 20-year-old is not breaking any laws. Nor is he at risk of expensive lawsuits brought by the entertainment industry over copyright violations.
Strong wording and indirect threats.
“We’re reaching into our pockets,” said Andrew Lack, the chief executive for Sony BMG. “At a certain point, the universities have to step up, too, but this is about an investment in the future.”Sony BMG will not say how much it is spending on the effort.
Oh, you’re breaking my heart. And as for question number two, I can answer that pretty easily. Nothing. Zero. Null. The networks are operating on their own and are P2P after all. I.e. the bandwidth is on the universities. Furthermore, they are giving away stuff that people weren’t gonna buy anyway. In electronic, 100% immaterial form. Bottom line, zero loss and expenses.
Plus they flat out admit that it’s a PR trick to hook schools on subscription programs. And they waste no time trying to make them feel guilty about it. It’s sickening. And Wired are of course blind to it at best or doing the devil’s bidding. Never turn your back to the media.
It goes on. I just can’t bear the aggravation. I can tell you one thing however. We will never yield.
