Via Slashdot. MJ Simpson has posted an early review of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy movie. The movie is described as follows:
“Bad”
“Really bad”
“Vastly, staggeringly, jaw-droppingly bad”
“Bad on a big scale”
“Bad on a small scale”
“Staggeringly unfunny”
“Unfunny, pointless crap”
“An abomination”
“Amazingly, mindbogglingly awful”
“A terrible, terrible film”
That is pretty much it … and … don’t panic!
From what I can tell one of the problems seems to be the American screenwriters trying to understand and write English humour. Plus the movie didn’t have enough screen time for the entire series of books. What should have been a trilogy or so was now squeezed into a single package. Plus the movie is produced by Disney, the masters of plot devastation. Maybe it is time to panic after all.
