Adobe Photoshop CS2 (v9.0)

Seems like PS9 has hit the streets. Or the net anyway. The major new features include …

  • Timesaving file handling with Adobe Bridge
  • Revolutionary Vanishing Point
  • Multiple layer control
  • Smart Objects
  • Multi-image digital camera raw file processing
  • Image Warp
  • Advanced noise reduction
  • 32-bit High Dynamic Range (HDR) support
  • Customizable workspaces and menus
  • Spot Healing Brush
  • One-click red-eye correction

Plus a wysiwyg font browser. Finally! Overall it seems that Adobe has put far more work into PS9 compared to its hyped predecessor. Some people will undoubtedly say that red-eye correction is bloat since anyone with half a talent can do it blindfolded, but if it saves even a couple of seconds it’s worth it. Lots of other small features aimed at the digital photo people as well.

I just hope they’ve fixed the PNG gamma problems and enabled smarter PNG-256 alpha export functions. That has been a major gripe now for years.
