The US government filed a case in a federal appeals court yesterday so it can force internet service providers (ISPs) to provide their log files to the authorities.According to the Bee, the appeal was filed with the second circuit US court of appeals in New York.
Last year a district judge stopped the US government from searching such logs. An ISP had a letter from the FBI wanting records to be revealed, but the judge said such powers weren’t warranted by previous laws including the Patriot Act.
