Life as the result of intelligent design? That designer must have been pretty crappy. You need not look any further than Bizarro Bush and his sort. Feebleminded and susceptible to fairy tales.
Bush said Monday he believes schools should discuss “intelligent design” alongside evolution when teaching students about the creation of life.During a round-table interview with reporters from five Texas newspapers, Bush declined to go into detail on his personal views of the origin of life. But he said students should learn about both theories.
“I think that part of education is to expose people to different schools of thought,” Bush said. “You’re asking me whether or not people ought to be exposed to different ideas, the answer is yes.”
Useless Knowledge adds:
How dumb is George W. Bush? Yesterday, he was endorsing the teaching of intelligent design alongside the theory of evolution. Intelligent design which isn’t even a scientific theory could be considered an oxymoron in name. There is no intelligent scholarship behind this psuedo-science.The evolution of the human female breast is all the proof one needs to debunk intelligent design. After all, if life was designed by someone with the ultimate in intelligence, all woman would have large breasts.
As if American education wasn’t flawed as it is. My recommendation to schools: Start teaching intelligent stuff. Like history, the way it really was. Or evolution, the way Christian fundamentalists don’t want it to be. Or as David Galbraith points out:
Because the defense of Intelligent Design is not on its own merits, but the merits of teaching different ideas, it creates a bad precedent. It may seem ridiculous to create the analogy, but just as separation of church and state is important, separation of church and science is too.
