Lifestream … during Ozzfest; Sharon Osbourne calls Bruce Dickinson a ‘prick’. Sharon still needs her psychopharmaca.
BLABBERMOUTH.NET has received a number of e-mails regarding last night’s (August 20) Ozzfest concert in Devore (near San Bernardino), California, which reportedly included an on-stage appearance following IRON MAIDEN’s set by Sharon Osbourne during which she called MAIDEN vocalist Bruce Dickinson a “prick.” The following report was submitted by David Priest, Editor In Chief of On Track Magazine:
“Last night’s [August 20] headlining performance of IRON MAIDEN at Ozzfest in San Bernardino, CA rendered some interesting if not disturbing results. Although MAIDEN played one hell of a show, they were under attack from the moment they began their set. From the time they hit the stage, they suffered power loss on at least three occasions and they were continuously pelted with ice, bottle caps, and eggs among other things. Vocalist Bruce Dickinson was even spit on by one attendee. He seemed to believe these occurrences were not by accident and insinuated that they had been planned from the beginning of the night. He also encouraged the other audience members to break the arm of anyone that they saw throwing things their way. Upon concluding their performance the emcee for the evening began to chant Ozzy, Ozzy while Bruce was still speaking. Bruce retaliated by chanting MAIDEN. After he left the stage Sharon Osbourne took over the mic and informed the crowd that they absolutely loved IRON MAIDEN and their crew and stated that they were all wonderful but that their singer Bruce Dickinson was a prick and had disrespected Ozzfest since they began their stint with the touring summer festival. This of course came as a shock to those of us in attendance and the there was ample confusion and speculation from audience members there after. As previously announced last night’s show marked the final performance of IRON MAIDEN on this year’s Ozzfest. VELVET REVOLVER will be taking over their slot on the last remaining dates.”
“It was a debacle and embarrassing and the most unprofessional thing I have ever seen in my 20 years of going to rock shows. To actually of cut the power to the band and throw projectiles at the band in order to ruin their set was truly evil and dangerous and disrespectful to the thousands of fans who were there purely to MAIDEN.
Bruce also made it perfectly clear that Iron Maiden would never be heard on U.S. radio, MTV and certainly never become a reality show .. as certain people have.

It also offended me every night how he took out the English flag in America. There are American boys going to war alongside the English boys every day. How dare he forget the American troops on their home turf? He has had no respect for the American audience he has been playing for, stating in an interview, ‘When you do the ‘hits’ tour here [in the U.S.], the audience is smug, and there’s a sense of self-satisfaction, like, ‘We got what we wanted…I’m looking at an audience that is self-satisfied and happy and fat, and getting what it wants and isn’t prepared to get off its ass..’
And Sharon of course being born in London and Ozzy / John in Birmingham … LOL! Also, is it such a surprise that Maiden slams Black Sabbath since they’ve been doing that for decades now? And could it end any other way since Iron Maiden is arguably bigger and better than any other band at Ozzfest, including Sabbath. Seems like a good way to kill your own band to invite Iron Maiden along.
I’ve always been a fan of Bruce, and Maiden, and this latest experience has only further proved what great integrity he possesses. Some may think it’s inconsiderate to launch into these tirades on someone else’s home turf but I instead see this as a strength. And it’s not like there wasn’t a basis for the complaints. I mean, how tired aren’t we all of the Osbourne family? And smug Americans?
At the end of the day, this is what makes Iron Maiden and Bruce Dickinson great. And what has set them apart from many other bands. Their involvement in current events, politics and social injustice. Iron Maiden was the great working class band of the 80s and it’s good to see there is at least something left.
What went on behind closed doors and tampering witht the PA system is just not fair. Maiden is a perfection type band

actualy sabaotage maidens set,Bruce should be pissed off,every maiden fan should be. Their a hard working live band and pride themselves on giving theie fans what we have expected over the years. I saw Ozzfest in Jersey no Ozzy,but it was fine maiden kicked ass and saved the day. I have not heard Sharon say anything about that. It’s obvious the sun has set on Sabbath,but don’t ruin Maidens sets to make them look unprofessional. Oh Sharon Maiden sold out the Garden 24mins in 02 for the Brave New World Tour.

Indeed, unprofessional. If Sharon and the crew have a problem, fine, but they can rave about it all they want on and off stage, but sabotaging a performance so clearly is just sleazy.
Interesting bit about the Bush-bashing. I had no idea. Haha. Given that, this seems a little hypocritical. But then again, it’s just desperate antics that Sharon clings to in order to discredit Maiden .. because obviously she can’t rebut the criticism as it is essentially right on.
I of course know The Trooper and the background story. But does Sharon? And I also know that Bruce does the same scene show during that song about every time they perform .. so

Dickinson and Osbourne are both fossils. Neither should be touring. They should be in a rock star convalescent home somewhere fighting over the last pair of incontinence pants. Preferably back in England.

Those are pioneers of metal, they have set the trails for those young bands of today that barely can hold a 3 chords progression…
What a shame that all those great bands have done is all gone with the wind, nowadays music is crap being done by young twits that dont even know the basics of playing an instrument.

I, in no way, suggest Ozzy or Bruce aren’t legends. I merely think neither should be touring at this stage in their lives. Ozzy doesn’t want to do it. He hasn’t for a long time. It’s his shrew of a wife forcing him to do it so she can continue to shop Rodeo drive.
Ozzy Is a fuking fagget. Just cause he is the bigest sellout in metal doesnt mean he can go and fuk with the only band that is still true to the music and the fans. He sold the rights to crazytrain to LIL JON what the fuk is that. He left Sabbath for his solo career to make more money that fuking fagget. And Sharon is just a stupid bitch she is just mad that the sun has set on Ozzy. All respect to Iommi and Ward And Gezzer. Up the Irons![i][u]

Sharon Osbourne spoke exclusively to Kerrang! magazine last week regading IRON MAIDEN’s final performance on this year’s Ozzfest tour, during which she cut MAIDEN’s power and arranged to have the band pelted with eggs and debris from the crowd. A couple of excerpts from the interview follow:
Kerrang!: Reading between the lines of [IRON MAIDEN manager] Rod Smallwood’s statement, the unspoken suggestion is that you orchestrated this whole thing…
Sharon Osbourne: "Of course I did. I had the PA turned on and off. And look it’s not hard for someone to walk into a diehard Ozzfest crowd and say, ‘Who wants to throw an egg at a rock star?’ Who wouldn’t wanna do that? I went out and bought 50 eggs and me and my daughter had a fucking blast. C’mon, it’s rock ‘n’ roll. No-one died. They’ll be waiting a long fucking time for an apology from me."
