What is the matter? The bathrooms in the UN building not good enough for you? [image1] [image2] Or are you just really lousy at planning ahead? Most of the internet community seems amused and have started down the road of ridicule. But strangely enough I find this far from amusing and rather a sign of disinterest in the business at hand. Not that I’m not familiar with the effects of age on a man’s bladder. But still, I suppose they have breaks in the UN too. Like for food, drink and bathroom breaks. Which I am sure you can make if you have any sense of planning. It’s a bit like when you go to the cinema. I bet George Bush is one of those popcorn guys that keep making noises throughout the feature, have to debate the plot with friends and that forgot to go before and thus can be seen scuttling in front of the screen in mid-movie.

Needless to say the photo has caused quite a bit of debate. Mostly over the idea to publish it and sneak peak over someone’s shoulder. Conservative NewsBusters even called their friendly handwriting expert when they couldn’t get anywhere with the moral side.
Bottom line is, the photo IS legit. It was enhanced in photoshop (overexposed) like I do with most of my similar shots. Nothing weird about it. It seems that it was indeed Bush who wrote the note and the sudden change in letters and style may indicate a “sudden urgency” and “inconsistency and unevenness of temperament or behavior” as the handwriting expert puts it. And much underreported … Bush did leave the room shortly after the picture was taken.
The fact is, according to Reuters — and this has not been widely reported — President Bush did indeed take a bathroom break after passing the note to Rice. This apparently raised some eyebrows around the room, because American representatives (among others) have a reputation for suddenly bolting, though normally for a far different reason than this latest one.
