Hitting the bottle … again

National Enquirer digs into George Bush’s alleged relapse of alcohol abuse. Not exactly me favorite source to quote but the psychology of alcoholics is kind of predictable and for lack of a better terms, “it’s in their nature.” So it would be no big leap of imagination to think that there could be some truth to this. The biggest question perhaps is if it indeed is a “relapse” in a strict sense and if he ever did stop drinking.

A Washington source said: “The sad fact is that he has been sneaking drinks for weeks now. Laura may have only just caught him — but the word is his drinking has been going on for a while in the capital. He’s been in a pressure cooker for months.

Dr. Justin Frank, a Washington D.C. psychiatrist and author of Bush On The Couch: Inside The Mind Of The President, told The National Enquirer: “I do think that Bush is drinking again. Alcoholics who are not in any program, like the President, have a hard time when stress gets to be great.

“I think it’s a concern that Bush disappears during times of stress. He spends so much time on his ranch. It’s very frightening.”

The good news? Well at least the relapse, if it indeed can be verified, shows the pressure is getting to him. Or perhaps that is just the spinning of the story trying to make people feel sorry for him. One could also say something about the rest of his boozy family, his daughters particularly, since alcoholism unfortunately does seem to have strong social and genetic characteristics. All bow to the upper-class, drugged down, alcoholic and decadent elite!
