The Swedish branch of McDonald’s is having financial problems. Now that is reason enough to celebrate. Sales are down and net income has virtually been erased. Seven burger joints have closed.

Mock scientology website threatened - www.scienTOMogy.info hit a bit of snag last week when the Church of Scientology threatened court action against the New Zealand-based Web site. Once again proving that legal action is second nature to the so called religion.
Hurricane advantage - The COS is swarming US hurricane struck areas adding insult to injury. […]
“End Of An Era.” This certainly came out of the blue. Not that I’ve been following them that closely but still. You’d think it would be revealed in a less abrupt manner. Hard to know what to make of this. Tarja apparently got a letter handed to her, a letter that was later released to […]
Amazing trash journalism from the corporate apologists over at Forbes. Filled with uneducated guesses, blatant stupidity and a flair for conspiracy theories.
Forbes via Boing Boing - Web logs are the prized platform of an online lynch mob spouting liberty but spewing lies, libel and invective. Their potent allies in this pursuit include Google and Yahoo.

Not breaking news perhaps but Rob Malda, aka CmdrTaco, of Slashdot fame, got his screen name (”CmdrTaco”) revoked in World of Warcraft because it violated Blizzard’s hoity-toity policy.
Slashdot - My Azgalor Paladin is running through Stormwind when I get a message from a GM proclaiming that my account is in violation of Blizzard policy […]
“The most successful society the world has ever known.” Not my words but rather those of Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee. I wont argue with the conclusion though. Le Monde came to basically the same conclusion recently when comparing the Scandinavian model to that of the rest of Europe and the USA.
Guardian - The prime minister […]
Thankfully, this nefarious practise has so far been limited to a few countries, like the US. But like all bad things, laws tend to migrate. Remember where we first got stricter patent and copyright laws from?
Medical Informatics Insider - A new study in this week’s Science reveals that a full 20 percent of the human […]
