Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist (imdb) has finally been released on DVD. Kind of extraordinary, but probably not unheard of, to have two distinct versions of the same movie, with the same leading actor (Stellan Skarsgård), but with two different directors and supporting casts. Looking back, it seems the studio was extremely foolish to reject “Dominion” in favor of “The Beginning” (imdb), especially since the former is the better movie and the latter ended up doing poorly at the box office. According to IMDB, “Dominion” was deemed “commercially unmarketable” and the only reason we get this horror treat is just because of the lousy box office record for “The Beginning.”

All in all a testament to greedy media execs and their lack of style, creativity. Imagine how many good movies get axed every year because they are “commercially unmarketable” …
