Robert Davis, a 64-year-old African-American man was beaten to within an inch of his life by the friendly police in New Orleans. Obviously the color of his skin had nothing to do with it. Sure. The unique twist here is that an AP cameraman happened to filmed the attack, which seems to have been completely unprovoked. One of the police officers then went on to punch and verbally intimidate the APTN producer.
According to the footage, Davis’ first and only mistake was resisting during the initial assault when, being pummeled by only one officer .. in the head. Apologists so far have come up with just about any excuse for why this happened. But there is none that makes sense except that the fault is embedded in the system itself. Prejudice and racism meet a violent, militarized society.

In addition, Kurt Nimmo weights in and notes that the racial issue is indeed present, but secondary to a sadist police culture. In short, being blinded by race effectively covers up the real issue. An issue of a militarized police force that unwaveringly serves the powers that be and that lulls people in a false sense of security. Also extremely poignant in this context are the career opportunities for ex military, who are often shifted into the police force after their tour of duty. One can wonder if that is really such a good idea from the standpoint of civil society.
