We’re all guilty of this from time to time I suppose but lately it seems that the social aspects of the wired world have been twisted and turned into some sort of conformity machine. The intentions are good I am sure, but in the end it shapes the once chaotic web into a likeness of the mainstream media as it were. In that some news or sorry excuses for news get picked up according to a disproportional scale. Another likeness would be when local TV stations are usurped by national equivalents. People obviously flock to the big channels because they don’t want to miss the big news stories. Social bookmarking and such has become the fashion statement of the contemporary Net. It may be cute now, but just wait and see.
