“End Of An Era.” This certainly came out of the blue. Not that I’ve been following them that closely but still. You’d think it would be revealed in a less abrupt manner. Hard to know what to make of this. Tarja apparently got a letter handed to her, a letter that was later released to the public. Seems like a somewhat fainthearted thing to do and a strange way to break up.
Nightwish.com - It’s time to choose whether the story of Nightwish ends here or whether it will still continue an undetermined period of time. We’ve been working with this creation for 9 years and we are not ready to give up yet. Nightwish is a way of life, something to live for, and we’re certain we can’t let it go.Equally certain is the fact that we cannot go on with you and Marcelo any longer. During the last year something sad happened, which I’ve been going over in my head every single day, morning and night. Your attitude and behavior don’t go with Nightwish anymore. There are characteristics I would never have believed to see in my old dear friend. People who don’t talk with each other for a year do not belong in the same band.
Later in the week, Tarja responded.
Tarjaturunen.com - While there would have been so many different possibilities and ways to express what they wanted to tell me with the letter, I remain unable to understand the way they chose to handle this. I am sorry that the guys got me so wrong. I don’t recognize myself at all from the way they described me.They mentioned mean things about me, but the fact that they involved Marcelo, my husband, crossed the line. He is the man I love, my friend and has been my biggest support over the last years.
We have been band mates for 9 years, experienced good times and not so good ones. I thought I knew them, but I was wrong.
Blabbermouth (complete with the usual Blabbermouth vulgarities) got their hands on an interview with Tuomas Holopainen which elaborates on the issues involved. I guess the band’s commercial breakthrough, fame and Tarja’s attempt at a solo career (and seeming lack of commitment) finally got to them. Plus being out on tour for months without end probably got everyone a tad uneasy. Given the unique vocal characteristics of Nightwish, finding a new lead singer may not be so easy. On the other hand, change is good, right?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I love nightwish… its a sad day:roll:
I just wan to be acknowleged as a human being. I have feelings too. I can acomplish a lot more than some people think. I wish that I could model but I am only 5ft. tall, and in our fucking world people exspect you to be tall and perfect. I believe myself to be beautiful, but I am not tall enough obviously and I have no clue why I am telling this to anyone at all. I have a myspace, ya’ll should check it out. My user name is I’m a Dollie, Play with me. Just go to myspace.com and do a search. The funny thing is that I am not even commenting on any photo, fashion, or etc. I guess that is probably pretty weird, but I just want all my dreams to come true.:zonked:
Audrey, hon, you’ve got issues!
The band’s music was phenomenal, however the singer can easily be replaced. It is such a shame when egos and inflated heads get in the way of what the band and fans expect of the music. So best of luck to Tarja, but I think Nightwish is probably best rid of her!
Tarja is what I listened to Nightwish for, else it would be just another band, and that is now what they will become. :nuke:
I look forward to whatever new projects you, Tarja, create.
"oh How is wish for soothing rain"
a sad day indeed, and even more, an end of an era,
it is very sadning to me that this beautiful band might so easly loose its most beautiful aspect, but such is life

It is sad, very sad, no matter what reason they decided to throw Tarja out of the band, they will regret, Tarja was the number 1 element of nightwish, she braught nightwish alive, its her words, her voice that made us vibrate when we listend to nightwish. Sure, the music is great, but without Tarja, the band will simply become a plaine and ordanairy band, with no thrill, Tarja can never be replaced by better, the fans probubly wont allow themselves to exepte that. Tarja made a place througout r hearts and we lurned to get attached to what ever shiver we got when we listened to the songs!
Nightwish died the day Tarja leaft the band, i dont know why they even keep the name, why would they rub that in her face, or in r’s! I hope Tarja does take on a solo carrire. I hope she stays in the melodic metal or symphonique metal.
I love you Tarja, and i hope you realise you dont need Nightwish to be great! A fan from Est Canada!
