I just realized it is actually 290 years, to the day, since the battle of Sheriffmuir which for all practical purposes ended “the ‘15″ and the Jacobite claim to the throne. Now that is an interesting tidbit. Perhaps the most important lesson of the ‘15 Rising is that if you’re gonna have a Rising, be on time. Unlike the would-be James VIII (III of England) who showed up over a month late, when the cause was already lost.
