We’ve all engaged in ad hominem from time to time, when arguments are wearing thin or the discourse has stooped to an all time low and actual reasoning is so flimsy that you can just as well go ahead and improvise. But attacking someone’s late mother, now that is one for the academic gutter. One where Harvard University apparently belongs. Here is the latest in the feud between Norman Finkelstein and Alan Dershowitz …

Norman Finkelstein - Shortly after University of California Press announced publication on my book Beyond Chutzpah, Professor Alan Dershowitz of Harvard Law School began alleging that my late mother was, or I believed she was, a Nazi collaborator during World War II. In an article for FrontPageMagazine.com (”Why is the University of California Press Publishing Bigotry?” 5 July 2005), Dershowitz stated that “[Finkelstein] suspects his mother of having been a kapo (’really, how else would she have survived?’ he asks rhetorically),” while in a statement posted on Harvard University Law School’s official webpage, Dershowitz wrote that “He suspects his own mother of being a kapo and cooperating with the Nazis during the Holocaust” (law.harvard.edu/faculty/dershowitz/).

Then again, Alan Dershowitz never was one for even the most basic academic rigours. Like citing sources in an intelligible way. What Dershowitz should really do is cut and paste the words of the text he is citing and make entirely new sentences just to have it over with. It wouldn’t make a bit of difference with regard to Dershowitz’s academic legitimacy which is nil right about now.

Someone like Dershowitz, a Jew with links to the Holocaust Industry, should take care not to spread ideas about actual Holocaust survivors being “collaborators” lest people might generalize to every legitimate survivor. He should know better and is doing exactly, in fact in a more profound way, what he has accused Finkelstein of doing. But then again, the Industry doesn’t care about little details like the facts or whether they are hurting their own avowed cause. Mainly because their entire operation is a fraud and a front for more “needy” zionist causes.
