I’ve been running the beta for quite some time, but as the technology is pretty new (hard to find other clients compatible with encryption) and as I don’t suffer from traffic shaping, I haven’t bothered to turn it on. It would be interesting to see what the RC4 crypto requires in terms of extra CPU usage. The µTorrent dev was quoted as saying that a “Pentium 4 can encrypt at 300MB/s (with optimized assembly code), so even if you download at a very fast speed, the RC4 encryption would just use a percent or two of CPU time, which is much less than the time required to compute SHA hashes of all downloaded pieces.”
