Thanks to the so called Liberals in the so called opposition, dreaded Justice Minister, and defacer of Social Democracy, Thomas Bodström was finally able to realize his longstanding dream of adding bugging to the Police toolbox. The convenient excuse? “Terrorism” of course. For now at least the procedure will require a court order, but that is hardly any consolation.

And with Bodström, the legal hatchet jobs are never done. I reckon the next move will be to further intimidate file sharers, especially now that we “know” that file sharing is linked to everything from terrorism to bad breath and antisocial tendencies. Just as removing civil liberties, after an American model, actually deters “terrorists” because they are allegedly at odds with our civil liberties. You know it makes sense. Just drink the Kool-Aid.

So far, this “terrorism stratagem” has been most successful, for governments all over the world, in implementing checks and balances on their own populations and breeding a culture of fear and infantile solutions.
