US backs Apple stand on French law

Engadget notes that the U.S. government has expressed support for Apple. Because obviously, anything else would be respecting consumer rights.

Personally I think this is an important step that France is taking. Digital music should play everywhere, no matter where you bought it and what sort of player you have. We don’t want a balkanized market, i.e. one split between greedy oligarchs. Needless to say, Apple is getting support not only from the biggest human rights offender and trampler of civil liberties in the world but also from its cohorts of fanboy drones. Far be it for anyone to actually support an attempt at making the world a little simpler and friendlier. The best slaves are those that defend their enslavement and defend their masters even as they are being flogged. Talk about false consciousness.
