Thankfully, so far, this is only a matter of promoting non-existent illnesses or exaggerating minor maladies. But one could well imagine a world where drug companies are also active in engineering the medical problem that they later spring up to cure. Especially with the emerging abilities of biotechnology. Never underestimate the lure of the bottom line.
