Arstechnica implies these 61% actually prefer the MSN Messenger protocol but it seems more likely that they either had no choice or didn’t think twice about it. Results also vary wildly between geographic regions. But seriously, doesn’t anyone use the ICQ protocol anymore? I could see myself moving to … anything but MSN. Offline messages anyone?
The same survey also indicates that Europe has by far surpassed North America in terms of Instant Messenger users. 82 million people in Europe used IM to communicate during February compared to 69 million in North America.
