It sure has been a a mind-boggling display of American so called justice these last couple of weeks, with the mock trial of Zacharias Moussaoui and all involving torture in the court room as well as jeering lynch mobs and sobbing 9/11 families. They sure are living Hollywood over there. Also, notice how the sadly irrelevant 9/11 witnesses and kin were hand-picked to present great “American Dream”-like fairy tales, designed not only to create a media hoopla in the Moussaoui trial, but also to further the idea of America. An idea that has been tarnished in recent year by its clash with reality. So, it’s American propaganda 101, nothing new there, but you’d wish they could act with dignity and justice just once.
Now, having failed to convict Sami al-Arian on any of the major and much touted terror and immigration charges, the U.S. instead forced him into one of their infamous settlements, essentially he pleaded guilty on a lesser charge, and plan to deport him. The U.S. once again fails to impress with one of the weakest and most pathetic, not to mention politically biased, legal systems of the entire democratic world.
In other news, the British so called “UFO Hacker” is a hairsbreadth from being extradited to the U.S. where he may face “enemy combatant” classification and be trapped in legal limbo and face human rights violations. The bottom line is that it has entered the legal practise, even in allied countries, to suggest that extradition to the U.S. requires binding guarantees that there will be a fair federal court trial. As opposed to being taken off the map to be tortured and humiliated.
