Speaking Truthiness to Power

It would seem large chunks of the blogosphere are abuzz with commentary on Stephen Colbert’s appearance at the White House Correspondents’ dinner. The satire was more than most could digest, especially George W Bush who was sitting a few feet from the podium. Colbert’s faux right-wing pundit persona was hilarious, and yet the funniest thing was the reception he got. Both in terms of the crowd not appreciating the criticism and presumably not getting the witty satire, which of course is well-known to short-circuit blunt intellects.

Most of all I believe in this president. Now, I know there’s some polls out there saying this man has a 32% approval rating. But guys like us, we don’t pay attention to the polls. We know that polls are just a collection of statistics that reflect what people are thinking in “reality.” And reality has a well-known liberal bias.
