Monstrous Lordi Victory for Finland

A monstrous victory for Finland. No one ever stood a chance against Lordi, despite what the doubting Thomases predicted. So, Finland wins the ESC for the first time ever in their 45 years or so of participation, and the pop divas get a cold shower. And most importantly, heavy metal makes a comeback … it [...]

Another Blogger Fired and Harassed

Another U.S. blogger (Jessaisms) got fired (from an Aquarium no less) for blogging and on top of this the employer used legal gesticulations, almost forcing her to delete the blog in question.

Metafilter - Another blogger gets fired for blogging.
Blogebrity is reporting that the latest victim is Jessa Jeffries whose blog Jessaisms got her booted. [...]

10 Worst Corporations of 2005

Old news but nevertheless interesting. The most obvious snag being of course that it’s hard to pick out just 10 corporations. Good luck finding 10 corporations that didn’t misbehave last year, now that would be a real challenge.
The list:

BP - Delphi - Dupont - ExxonMobil - Ford - Halliburton - KPMG - Roche - Suez [...]

More Google Attacks

A Belgian company sues Google over Google Suggest and Brazil is itching to do the same over the distribution of “child pornography and racial materials” via Google’s Orkut social networking software. Not easy being Google these days, and even though these PR stunts are empty, deceitful and meaningless, they do play their part in boxing [...]

America Against the World

“America Against the World” is a new massive study looking into “How We Are Different and Why We Are Disliked.” Interestingly, the study tries to examine not only foreign policy but the way ordinary American behave, and possibly contribute, to their own negative image. The first and obvious conclusion is that people don’t generally like [...]

The Enterprising Ayaan Hirsi Ali

From cheerleading the Muslim Brotherhood to the American Enterprise Institute. So maybe that is not a major step in reality since both have been integral parts of America’s grand strategy. Inspirational flip-flopping frankly. I must say I am humbled by her hate-mongering and invective, no matter where she opportunistically stands for the moment, it eclipses [...]

The Daily Show Effect

A new study published in the American Politics Research examines the effects of “soft news” … and guess who is in the crosshairs?

We test the effects of a popular televised source of political humor for young Americans: The Daily Show With Jon Stewart. We find that participants exposed to jokes about George W. Bush and [...]

Hollywood Liaison

An unwitting confession indeed and a blatant avoidance of the hard, cold facts of war and what the military is really about. Americablog reports that the U.S. military is now promising kids who join the ranks even broader career opportunities. Apparently it’s so much more than being America’s jackboot in the third world and getting [...]

IHI advises Europe

The U.S. Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) held its 11th European Forum on Quality Improvement in Health Care a few weeks ago. I learned from initiated sources that the entire event reeked of apologists for America and praises for the allegedly wonderful health care and compassion that they offer. Far and wide accounts of how [...]

No Gallows For Britain

As BBC reported last week, new European Commission Trade Regulation rules will soon outlaw David Lucas’s gallows sales. For ten years time, the Suffolk farmer has built and exported gallows to various nations including Zimbabwe (or so he claims). A questionable business practise sure, and a tad ghoulish. But it’s really the hypocrisy that strikes [...]
