Overcrowded prisons

Though this falls within the realm of celebrity gossip (and I hate the celebrity cult, not necessarily gossip) I couldn’t help noticing this tidbit from last week. Bottom line, actress Michelle Rodriguez had violating her probation and got a 60-day sentence (+ 30 days of community service) which in itself seems fairly low. Well, it seems about right from my point of view but a tad liberal for being the US. Not that I can be bothered to look up Californian legal precedence on drunk driving. But here is the real gem. Because of overcrowding, Rodriguez just happened to be released after having served only four hours and 27 minutes. Convenient. Sounds like double standards to me. Not that overcrowding isn’t a real problem in the US. But what can you do? Oh wait …

I know how to free up a slot in the Californian prison system …
