Ideological Exclusion

ACLU lawsuit: U.S. block entry at border via ‘ideological exclusion’ policy (ACLU)

“The ACLU has filed a lawsuit challenging a provision of the Patriot Act that is being used to deny visas to foreign scholars whose political views the government disfavors,” says ACLU’s Website. “The lawsuit charges that the provision, known as the “ideological exclusion” provision, is being used to prevent United States citizens and residents from hearing speech that is protected by the First Amendment.”

These exclusions include but are surely not limited to: South Korean activists, Yoannis “John” Milios, M.I.A. (Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam), Iñaki Egaña, Waskar Ari, Dora Maria Tellez. In each and every case, the rationale has been week and notoriously vindictive, politically motivated rather than being related to any real or imminent security issue.
