I just saw the first episode of Little Britain USA (imdb, hbo) and overall the show was hilarious and possibly even more offensive than usual. Despite some of the old and new characters being a little duller than expected. It’s the same absurd rollercoaster ride that we have come to expect though, going from witty comedy to almost nauseating skits.
The Sun has some tidbits from the show. Apparently the show was a little too rude for some in the US. Imagine that. Others were more impressed (LA Times, Wired, Den of Geek).
I bet the main problem here is spoofing America … in America. Being perhaps the most self-important, prissy people in the world, there are quite a few who for that reason alone will chide the series. They just can’t stand seeing a critical representation of themselves, even in this comical larger-than-life format. And that of course just makes the show funnier.
